Concreting in winter: six measures we apply on site

Our standard site procedure for preventing strength loss when concreting in cold weather.

As temperatures fall, setting slows and early freezing can cause permanent strength loss. Our cold-weather procedure therefore covers before, during and after the pour.

Before pouring, snow and ice are cleared from forms and rebar, and warm water and suitable admixtures are ordered. During the pour, concrete temperature is measured and logged for every truck.

After the pour, insulated curing blankets go down, heated enclosures are used where needed, and site-cured cubes guide the decision to strike formwork.
